Lewis Hamilton criticised the judgment to eliminate the national right to an abortion on Instagram after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling.
The United States Supreme Court’s decision to eliminate the national right to an abortion has drawn harsh criticism from Lewis Hamilton.
The Roe v. Wade ruling from 1973 was overturned by the Supreme Court on Friday, which declared that there is no constitutional right to an abortion in the United States.
Hamilton expressed his anger at the decision on his Instagram account after the decision was made.
“Disgusted by the decision made by the Supreme Court in the US today,” Hamilton posted.
“I don’t understand why some in power pushed and continue to push to strip rights away from millions of people.
“This decision will impact the most vulnerable among us.
“Women, people of colour, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and so on.”
Hamilton is promoting social justice more and more
While visiting the US in May for the Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton previously entered the abortion discussion.
“I love being in the States,” Hamilton had written on Instagram before that race.
“But I can’t ignore what’s going on right now and what some in the government are trying to do to the women who live here.
“Everyone should have the right to choose what they do with their bodies. We can’t let that choice be taken away.”
Hamilton has emerged as a prominent opponent of social injustice in past years, having led the Black Lives Matter movement and advocated for increased minority participation in Formula One.
As part of an ongoing investigation into drug selling activities in Louisville, Kentucky, Breonna Taylor was shot and murdered by police during the 2020 season. Hamilton also donned a t-shirt advocating for the arrest of the officers involved.
