The race for the 2021 world championship between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is still on, but the Red Bull driver won his first race of the season in the United States Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen won the first title on offer in 2021 thanks to his pole position in the United States Grand Prix.
Verstappen won qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas, overtaking title challenger Lewis Hamilton by two tenths of a second, and then won the race following a fascinating strategic battle between Red Bull and Mercedes.
Verstappen’s pole was his ninth of the season, ensuring that he will remain unchallenged in the one-lap standings for the next five Grands Prix.

As a result, the Dutchman will get the “Pirelli Pole Position Award” as well as a limited-edition Pirelli tyre (a wind tunnel model).
In 2021, Hamilton has three pole positions, followed by Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who each have two, and McLaren driver Lando Norris, who has one.
