After switching from McLaren to Mercedes nine years ago, Lewis Hamilton has gone on to have an extraordinary run of success.

Since his ‘first day’ with the team on January 24, 2013, Hamilton has amassed a long list of accomplishments and records, including six world championships in the sport’s turbo-hybrid era, which began a year after his arrival.

Hamilton won his first Formula One championship with McLaren in 2008, and went on to win it again in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, only missing out in 2016 due to a tense battle with teammate Nico Rosberg, which led to the German’s retirement.

Hamilton has won 82 of his 178 races with Mercedes (a 46 percent success rate), and he has finished on the podium 133 times (equating to a trophy in almost three out of four starts).

With 103 victories, Hamilton is currently 12 victories ahead of Michael Schumacher in F1’s all-time victory list. His first win for Mercedes came in Hungary in 2013, and his most recent came in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last year.

In terms of pole positions, it’s a same picture, with Hamilton’s 77 at Mercedes giving him a total of 103. It puts him 35 points ahead of Schumacher and three points ahead of Ayrton Senna, his childhood hero.
