Kevin Magnussen has passed his compulsory “rookie” simulator test for the Le Mans 24 Hours:

“I think the most important thing was to sit down with someone who was an expert on the rules and to get used to them. There are a lot of specific rules and procedures for Le Mans which you need to be acquainted with. It’s part of the preparations we all go through so hopefully we don’t get any problems in the race.

“I’ve done quite a bit of night driving in F1 and at Daytona and Sebring so don’t think that’s going to be such a big challenge for me. It’s cool, I really like driving at night as it somehow makes it feel faster.

“As far as managing traffic is concerned, that’s something I’m learning about this year in IMSA, about the risk and reward in passing and dealing with slower cars. But Le Mans is another challenge and will be a very different circuit to what I’ve raced on before.”

Magnussen will race in the #49 ORECA 07 Gibson for High Class Racing with his father, multiple class winner Jan, and fellow Danish driver Anders Fjordbach.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held on the 21st and 22nd of August as the fourth round of the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
