In the races left until his F1 retirement, Vettel won’t “back off”

Sebastian Vettel is eager to approach races as aggressively as he did before, despite racing in his last few Grands Prix of his Formula 1 profession.

Sebastian Vettel, driver of the Aston Martin, says he won’t “back off” in his final nine Grands Prix as he gets ready to leave Formula 1 at the end of the current campaign.

Four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel stated soon before the Hungarian Grand Prix that he will stop his 16-season profession at the end of 2022, citing a shift in his focus away from motorsport and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Vettel, one of the most seasoned racers of all time, presently holds the seventh-highest position with 290 F1 begins.

The German is resolved to tackle the last set races the same way he has during his profession. If he begins every race between the Belgian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he will retire with 299 race begins to his credit.

Vettel was ready to stop racing

After finishing 10th at the Hungarian Grand Prix, 53-time world champion Sebastian Vettel told the media, “I will not back off until the end, I know how this task needs to be done.”

“And that’s how I would like to do it to the end.

“Seeing the people around the grandstands is nice because, I’d probably not have that type of feeling again, but then again, I’ve been lucky to have had it for so many years.

“So everything comes to an end. My story will at the end of the year and another story will begin.”

Vettel outlines the positives and negatives of Aston Martin

For a racer used to pursuing pole positions, podium finishes, and race triumphs, the Vettel/Aston Martin partnership has only produced meagre pickings.

In fact, Vettel earned the squad’s first-ever and lone podium finish at the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, despite the fact that he placed second in that year’s race in Hungary but was excluded for a fuel-related rule violation.

The squad currently sits ninth in the Constructors’ Championship with 20 points in 2022 after failing to advance past the established major three outfits.

Vettel believes that Sundays are Aston’s strongest day and has 16 of them with a high finish of sixth in Baku.

“[The] last two years, I find it very hard [to fight] for points,” he explained.

“I think everybody is [looking forward to the summer break], and then I think we will try to have a better [car on a] Saturday.

“That’s our weakness and [on] Sunday’s we can be very strong.

“So there seems to be some some homework to do.”
