A moving scene occurred in the parc ferme after George Russell’s first F1 victory in Brazil.

After winning an unforgettable first Formula 1 triumph in the Brazilian Grand Prix, George Russell was overcome with emotion.
After winning the Sprint, Russell started from pole position and maintained his lead throughout a late Safety Car resumption to hold off teammate Lewis Hamilton, who has yet to triumph this season.
Russell, who made his Formula One start in a free practise session in 2017, becomes the 113th racer to win a Grand Prix at the racetrack.
After the victory, which guarantees the British racer fourth position in the rankings, he broke down in tears.

Triumph for Russell
He said, “I’m speechless, you know, on the inside lap, all of these memories just sort of flood back in.”
“Starting off with my mum and dad in go-karting and going through all the support I’ve had from the rest of my family, my girlfriend, my trainer and my manager.
“Then [with those] who gave me the opportunity to get on the programme with Mercedes and James Vowles and Toto Wolff the list is endless.
“I can’t thank them enough and am super proud.

“A huge thank you to the whole team for making this possible.
“It’s been an emotional roller coaster this season. The race was really tough race, but I felt in control.
“Lewis was super-fast and then, when I saw the safety car come out, I thought: ‘this is going to be a really difficult end’ and there’s so much pressure.”
