Since quitting Red Bull in 2018, Daniel Ricciardo has spent most of his F1 races in the middle of the pack. However, the Australian driver claims their relationship hasn’t changed from when he was a member of the drinks-sponsored team.

After Helmut Marko made the decision to leave Red Bull 4 years ago, Daniel Ricciardo claims there have been no ill feelings between the two of them.
When Ricciardo revealed in the middle of 2018 that he would be switching from the championship-winning Red Bull squad to the middle-of-the-pack Renault squad for 2019, many in the F1 paddock were taken aback.
After two successful but unsuccessful seasons at Enstone, Ricciardo left for McLaren in 2021. Despite the fact that he gave the Woking team its first victory in more than 8 years at the Italian Grand Prix, the Australian has usually had trouble keeping up with colleague Lando Norris’s speed.

Although Red Bull has outperformed Renault and McLaren in every season after Ricciardo left the team, the Australian claims that his relationship with Red Bull Special Advisor Marko, who is well-known in Formula One for his blunt and frequently divisive ideas, has remained unchanged.

Ricciardo: The relationship to Helmut is unchanged
“Helmut gave me a lot of sh*t over the years, so he didn’t need to [about my decision to leave],” Ricciardo told media including RacingNews365.com.
“After I left, there was no need for that any more.

“Obviously, I have less interaction with Helmut these days, but of course, I would say the relationship is still the same. It’s very honest, very Helmut.
“My admiration or respect for the man has remained unchanged.
“He’s a good guy, so [there was] no, ‘I told you so’. That’s part of the sport, and we all move on.”
