After the Williams Driver Academy member’s achievement of an FIA Formula 3 license, Ollie Gray will advance onto the Formula 1 support package in 2023.

Briton Gray competed in the British Formula 4 title in 2022 while competing for the Carlin squad. He finished second in the rankings with two victories, two pole positions, and a total of 16 podium places.

He is preparing to move up to FIA F3 with Carlin, who are also attempting to race American Hunter Yeany and still need to secure a third seat.

“It’s going to be a big challenge but I’m really looking forward to it and to work with the team who I get along with really well,” said Gray.

“I’m really excited to be stepping up to F3 with Carlin and to be continuing my partnership with Williams Racing as an Academy driver. I look forward to some good results in 2023.”

Gray’s choice was a “natural progression,” according to Williams’ sporting director Sven Smeets.

Ollie made the perfect step to Formula 3 with Carlin after a highly successful season in British Formula 4, the racer said.

“Throughout his first year as part of our Driver Academy, Ollie’s shown his talents on the track with numerous wins and podiums and while at Grove where he’s worked with the team.

“We look forward to supporting his development in 2023 and seeing what he can achieve in F3.”
