As technical expert Paolo Filisetti discusses, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc will face off again at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, but the Red Bull racer will have a new chassis to work with.

Despite the fact that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend was unique owing to the Sprint structure, which supposed racers only had 1 practise session before competing on Friday, a variety of changes were made across the grid.
Red Bull was especially busy, bringing a big update for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, with a concentration on the car’s underbelly.

The RB18 saw a double development, as it not only went on a diet but also underwent different aerodynamic improvements.

In terms of aerodynamics, the area beneath the chassis where the airflow is separated was the goal of development.
A dual splitter (with an additional fin) has been installed (as seen above), akin to Ferrari’s F1-75 and Aston Martin’s AMR22.
The goal is to boost the performance of the Venturi channels at the car’s bottom. There has been a subtle shift here, but their structure is now lighter.

The upgraded Red Bull, according to rumours in the Imola racetrack, is about four kilogrammes lighter. It is estimated that it has shed 15kg since the first winter check.
