By taking the place of Ty Gibbs in a NASCAR Cup Series race for 23XI Racing this season, Daniel Hemric will become the team’s fifth different racer.
Gibbs, who just won the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS), placed ninth for the Cup finale but will not compete because of an unconfirmed family problem.

Hemric, who won the NXS championship for himself in 2021, required the team to modify the seat in order to prepare it for him. Hemric will make his ninth Cup start of the season in 2022; the rest of his starts have been with Kaulig Racing.
Only twice has Hemric competed in the Cup at Phoenix Raceway, both times with Richard Childress Racing.
