As former FIA President Jean Todt leaves office, Michael Schumacher’s family has paid respect to him.
Following the departure of Jean Todt as president of the FIA, Michael Schumacher’s family has posted a little tribute to the Frenchman on social media.
Todt’s term ended last week after 12 years and three consecutive terms – the maximum period a person can hold the office.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem took over for Todt in the role.
Todt and Michael Schumacher worked together at Ferrari from 1996 and 2006, before Michael’s first retirement as a racing driver, and his family paid respect to him. Todt and Schumacher became firm friends during their decade-long working partnership, which resulted in five consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships.
“Celebrating a man who has always had a vision and a great heart,” read the short statement from the Schumacher family on social media.
“Jean, you made your mark in the world of motorsport and you are an inspiration for many around the world and for our family in your fight for road safety.
“We are proud to have you at our side, and we are proud to remain at your side in your life’s next chapter. Here’s to more time together. Love from the entire Schumacher family.”
Todt, who spoke about Schumacher at the FIA Prize-Giving Gala in Paris on Thursday, merely shared the tweet and stated, “I love you forever.”
