With a cryptic message on his Instagram page, Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has fuelled rumours about his future.
With the caption “Decision day,” Ronaldo posted a photo of himself next to his Rolls Royce.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, will meet with Juventus officials on Sunday to discuss the former Real Madrid star’s future.
According to Football Transfers, both Ronaldo and Juventus are open to a summer transfer.
Will Ronaldo stay at Juventus?
Last season, the 36-year-old was dissatisfied with the Bianconeri’s results, as they only just made it into the top four on the final day and were knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16.
Given his age, Ronaldo wants to spend the final year or two of his career with a team capable of competing for big championships.
Juve, on the other hand, would probably sell Ronaldo to reduce their pay bill.
Cristiano’s gross salaries are estimated to be in the range of €60 million per year.
If they can find a buyer for Ronaldo, they will be able to make more moves in the future.
They are currently hamstrung and unable to finance the one important investment they hope to make this summer: Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo.
The three primary teams connected with signing Ronaldo this summer were Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSG.
All three parties, though, have stated that they will find it difficult to match Ronaldo’s current salary.
As a result, Ronaldo has few suitors and will have a difficult time finding a new team for the 2021-22 season.
Mendes is pressuring Juve to extend the attacker’s contract by a year, according to Gazzetta, but the Italian giants are unwilling to initiate negotiations at the moment.
Ronaldo is set to start pre-season training with Juventus on July 25, as he joins the squad later than those who did not participate in Euro 2020.
Despite Portugal being ousted in the final 16 by Belgium, Cristiano was the highest scorer at the Euros with five goals.
Last season, the veteran was also Serie A’s top scorer, with 29 goals for Juventus, five more than the next highest scorer, Inter’s Romelu Lukaku.
Since joining Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018, Ronaldo has scored 101 goals in 133 games, winning two Scudetti, one Coppa Italia, and two Italian Super Cups.
