It will have to wait until Saturday to find out whether Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes car’s DRS violated Brazilian technical regulations.

The decision on whether Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes’ DRS (Drag Reduction System) violated technical regulations at the Brazilian Grand Prix has been postponed until Saturday morning.
Following a review by FIA F1 Technical Delegate Jo Bauer, it was discovered that Hamilton’s Mercedes W12 car was not in compliance with the rules following qualifying at Interlagos, where the seven-time World Champion finished first.
The problem stems from the fact that when the DRS is enabled, the gap between the two rear wing planes must not exceed 85mm, however the gap on Hamilton’s car was found to be greater than this.
Mercedes was formally brought before the stewards for the alleged breach at 19:15 local time in Brazil.

More evidence to come
After a long wait, the stewards confirmed that a decision will not be made until Saturday am due to a lack of evidence.
“The stewards have adjourned the hearing relating to Document 18 of the 2021 FIA Formula 1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix as they await further evidence that will not be available until the morning,” read a statement.
The FIA also stated that scrutineering of the rest of the field had been completed, with no additional rule violations discovered, including Max Verstappen’s rear wing.
