The news was in the air, and we had already discussed it in our AfterGP SBK: Scott Redding would leave the Ducati Team in 2022 to join BMW Motorrad Motorsport.
The news comes from the German team, which is delighted to have the 28-year-old Englishman on board. Will be joined by Michael van der Mark, who is already driving the M 1000 RR with Tom Sykes this season. BMW has announced that negotiations for a contract renewal in the SBK world championship for next year are underway.
Since 2008, Scott Redding has competed in various world championships, including five seasons in MotoGP with Honda, Ducati, and Aprilia. In 2019, he won the BSB (British Superbike) championship with Ducati, and in 2020, he competed in the world SBK with the official Ducati team, where he met Chaz Davies.
With Redding’s move to BMW, the question of who will drive for Ducati next year remains unanswered, and there is also rumors of Alvaro Bautista returning to the Panigale V4: confirmation of market movements is expected soon.
