Russell will take Bottas’ place at Mercedes in the middle of the season in 2021

According to a few reliable sources, F1fanatic believes George Russell will take Valtteri Bottas’ place at Mercedes beginning in the mid-2021 season.

Russell showed his potential for a Mercedes race spot last season in Bahrain. When he took over for the injured Lewis Hamilton, the Brit played great.

Recently, Sky Sports F1 Italia has reported that “Bottas-Mercedes, moving towards non-renewal of contract. Beyond the anonymous race in Azerbaijan, the future of the Finnish driver seems marked: Mercedes should not renew his contract for the next season. Russell ready”

In an interview, Russell stated that he wants to know what he’s going to do after university before the summer break.

“I haven’t really spoken about it [with Toto Wolff], that’s always just been my mindset [to conclude the talks quickly],” Russell said.

“It’s in everyone’s best interest. I’m just focused on the here and now really, but I’m sure everything will be sorted no later than the end of the summer break really.

“I think we’d all want a nice summer break off when the season’s this intense, not messing around with contracts. I know I certainly would anyway. The Brit added.

“And it gives everybody a bit of clarity… I guess we’ll see in the coming weeks really.”

During the Monaco Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso, a two-time world champion in Formula One, swapped helmets with Russell and wrote on the side of his lid that Russell was a world champion in the making. “George, you rock!! Future World Champ”, read Alonso’s message to Williams’ young driver as he presented the young man with his Alpine helmet.
