Musquin confirms his plans to race until the 2022 season

Following his second-place finish in Saturday’s Monster Energy Supercross finals in Salt Lake City, Marvin Musquin confirmed his desire to race until 2022.

The Red Bull KTM racer has had a difficult few seasons, and it had been 623 days since he last lined up for a Supercross race when the gate dropped on the 2021 450SX championship.

This year’s Supercross campaign had its ups and downs, with various minor injuries and bike problems causing him to withdraw from a few races.

He turned things around in the final two rounds, winning the penultimate round and then finishing a strong second this past Saturday, giving him his third podium of the season.

“I’m happy to finish this season on a very high note, going 1-2 in Salt Lake City,” Musquin explained. “The chase was really fast and we are super high in altitude so the breathing was tough, but it felt so good to give my best like that.”

Musquin’s future in the sport has come into question recently, with many wondering if he’d continue racing. Following his second-place finish at Rice-Eccles Stadium, the Frenchman confirmed his commitment to race till 2022.

“I’m really happy to give good results right now,” he continued. “It’s been a tough season but I’m showing that I’ve still got some speed and endurance. I’m excited, we’ll be back next year!”

Musquin and the rest of the field will now rest for a few weeks before the start of the 2021 Pro Motocross Championship on May 29 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.
