After Bubba Wallace won his first NASCAR Cup Series race on Monday, Michael Jordan delivered a statement.
Wallace won the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, which was shortened due to bad weather. Due to weather, the race has been postponed till Monday. Due to the bad weather conditions, the race was also called after 118 laps instead of the scheduled 188.
Wallace became the first black driver to win a race in NASCAR’s premier series since Wendell Scott in 1963. He was overjoyed when he heard the news.
Wallace is a member of the Jordan and Denny Hamlin-owned 23XI Racing team.
“I’m so happy for Bubba and our entire 23XI Racing team,” Jordan said in a statement. “This is a huge milestone and a historic win for us. From the day we signed him, I knew Bubba had the talent to win and Denny and I could not be more proud of him. Let’s go!”
23XI has already had a winner in their first year of racing.
Wallace’s victory is significant not simply because of where it occurred, but it also has sentimental value.
