Kyle Busch has won two races in the NASCAR Cup Series. He’s now ready to take on the dirt micro division.
In the Tulsa Shootout, the 36-year-old will make his first appearance. A week before the dirt midget event, the race takes place on the Chili Bowl track.
“It’s a dirt track thing,” tweeted Kyle Busch.
Joe B Miller Motorsports is the stable where the NASCAR Cup Series champion is driving.
Brexton Busch, his son, will compete in the Tulsa Shootout for the first time as well. In the JR Sprint class, Brexton will compete.
Busch will compete in the same four classes as fellow NASCAR driver Christopher Bell. Bell has won the Winged Outlaw class in the past.
Sheldon Creed, the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series winner, is another NASCAR driver competing in the same four classes. In 2022, he’ll race full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
The fourth NASCAR driver on the Tulsa Shootout entry list is Brett Moffitt. Non-Wing Outlaw, Winged A-Class, and Stock Non-Wing are the three classes in which the 2018 Truck champion is competing.
The 600cc Winged Micro division is led by Hailie Deegan. With DGR, she competes in the NASCAR Truck Series.
The previous high was 1,397 entries for the Tulsa Shootout. As they near 1,500, that record has already been broken.
The Tulsa Shootout begins with a round of practice on Tuesday. The racing starts on Wednesday. Saturday’s finale comprises six major events to bring the season to a finale.
