According to Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, Cristiano Ronaldo has “never wanted to leave Juventus.”
Ronaldo, who has a year left on his Juventus deal, has been the focus of a lot of recent transfer rumors, with Spanish TV show El Chiringuito predicting that he could return to Real Madrid.
There was also speculation of a return to Ronaldo’s first professional club, Sporting CP, and an offer from Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to Manchester City, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.
“Let’s clarify this issue, Ronaldo told me that he’s staying,” Allegri told reporters ahead of Juve’s Serie A opener at Udinese on Sunday.
“He has always trained well and has always been available.”
Cristiano Ronaldo watches a pre-season friendly match between Juventus and Atalanta BC at Allianz Stadium in Turin, Italy, on August 14, 2021.
During Euro 2020, Ronaldo equaled Iran’s Ali Daei’s all-time international goalscoring record of 109.
Despite this, the 36-year-old has been unable to lead Juventus to a Champions League victory since joining the Italian club on a four-year deal for a record $117 million transfer fee in 2018, a league he won four times with Real Madrid.
Ronaldo announced on social media on Tuesday that he had signed a new contract “can’t allow people to keep playing around with my name.”
“More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumors, as well as to their players and staff,” Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram post.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti stated on Twitter that despite Ronaldo being “a Real Madrid great and he has all my passion and respect,” he had never considered signing him.
In his first two seasons with the Old Lady, Ronaldo won the Serie A title, but the team finished fourth last season as Inter Milan won the Scudetto, which may explain the speculation.
“As well as this most recent episode in Spain, there have been frequent news and stories associating me with a number of clubs in many different Leagues, with nobody ever being concerned about trying to find out the actual truth,” Ronaldo said in his Instagram post.
