For the 2022 MotoGP season, Ducati has announced that Jack Miller would remain with the factory team.
Miller signed a 1+1 factory deal for the 2021 season, and he has decided to take up his option for a second year. After a three-year run with Pramac Racing, Miller will be riding for Ducati for the fifth time next season (2018-2020).
At Jerez and Le Mans, Miller has won the last two MotoGP races. Miller rode brilliantly in Spain to take advantage of Fabio Quartararo’s arm pump difficulties, and the 26-year-old dominated the mixed conditions in France to win by a comfortable margin. Miller is now in fourth place in the standings, 16 points behind Quartararo.
Miller had battled in the first three rounds of the season, and this was the ideal response. Before crashing out at Portimao, the Ducati rider placed tenth in both Qatar races. Miller had surgery on his arm pump prior to the Portuguese Grand Prix.
“I am thrilled to be able to continue my adventure with the Ducati Lenovo Team also next season,” Miller said. “Wearing these colours is a great honour for me and having been able to win the last two races on the Desmosedici GP is a real dream! It wouldn’t have been possible without the great support that I’ve received from Ducati and the whole team during the last months, and I want to thank Gigi, Paolo, Davide, and Claudio for the faith they had in me.
“Now I can solely concentrate on the current season. We are fourth in the standings, not far from the leader, and the Championship is still very long. I will do my best to continue this positive trend and fight for the title. Forza Ducati!”
Miller is one of the favourites for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, and it’s difficult to bet against him right now. Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo, and Danilo Petrucci have won the last three races at Mugello.
The Desmosedici riders had a distinct advantage on the 1141-meter home straight thanks to the Italian manufacturer’s unrivaled horsepower. If a Ducati rider wins on Sunday, it will be the fifth time in the company’s history that it has won three races in a row.
“In this first season, Jack has shown great talent, professionalism, and strong determination,” Luigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, added. “He was able to secure two important victories in different conditions after a tough start to the season. For sure, he is one of the riders that better knows how to understand our Desmosedici GP to fully take advantage of its potential in any condition, as the recent success in Le Mans has demonstrated.
“As always, our goal remains the Championship title, and we believe that with Jack and Pecco, we will be among the main protagonists of the 2022 title charge.”
Despite the fact that he has yet to win a MotoGP race, teammate Francesco Bagnaia’s consistency has him in second place in the standings, just a point behind Quartararo. In 2021, the Italian has three podium finishes and a pole position to his name.
