Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One World Champion, shared some insight into his individual ambitions after retiring from the motorsport.
Lewis Hamilton has discussed his plans for the future and how he envisions himself after leaving the Formula One sport.
The 37-year-old Mercedes racer, who is competing in his 16th season of F1, is second-oldest on the track only to Fernando Alonso (41).
Given that F1 racers very infrequently compete after turning 40, it is doubtful that Hamilton will play the game for several more years.
Hamilton stated when questioned about his post-retirement interests that he would still maintain a stake in Formula One and said he didn’t want to be a “negative” retired racer.
“I’ll always be tapped into this sport, I’ll always be watching,” confirmed Hamilton in an interview with former teammate Heikki Kovalainen on ViaPlay.
“I’ll always want to be someone that’s being positive to whichever drivers that are here, good or bad, because you know how difficult it is to start, and how it can suck and how days can be good and how people can be negative about you.
“I don’t ever want to be one of those drivers that does that, because we’ve experienced that.”
Hamilton expects being involved in “several projects”
Hamilton has become more actively involved in a variety of hobbies, endeavours, and businesses during the past few years.
Hamilton has passions in music, has launched organizations and charities, and works in the fashion sector.
The Britishman has also started a vegetarian burger restaurant, formed the Extreme E racing team X44, and was currently identified as a part of the group that purchased the Denver Broncos of the American football league.
Hamilton was questioned about what he will be passionate about after leaving Formula 1.
“I think I’ve really tried to utilise this time when I’m outside [of F1]; I hold a lot of Zoom calls with people from different genres just to be educated – I ask a lot of questions,” added Hamilton.
“The last one was with a specialist who started a solar panel company in Silicon Valley, just to see how he went about it, what his goals are, and just realising that there are a lot of amazing people out there who have really great intentions, and are really trying to help improve life for people and help save the planet for the future.
“I’m working on a lot of different projects. I have a really big team now that I’ve been building over the last five years, my own personal life team that’s working with me to really help me bring the ideas and things that I’m passionate about to life. So we have a lot of projects.
“I think a lot of people say they’re entrepreneurs. I think I’m genuinely an entrepreneur, because I have a lot of these business things going. I think afterwards, I’ll be able to zone in on one or more of those.”
