Sebastian Vettel’s start to the 2021 Formula One season, as well as his employment with Aston Martin, has not gone well, and he now finds himself staring at one poor statistic.
Sebastian Vettel appears to have started up where he left off following a poor final few seasons with Ferrari four races into the 2021 Formula One season.
The four-time world champion signed with Aston Martin in 2021 to fight alongside Lance Stroll as a replacement for Sergio Perez, and the transition has been difficult.
The team has suffered since rebranding from Racing Point due to rule changes that went into force before the season, but Stroll has nevertheless achieved two point-scoring performances and no finishes lower than 14th.
Vettel, meanwhile, has yet to finish higher than 13th place.
Through the first four races of the season, only seven of the sport’s ten teams have managed to score any points. This makes sense, given that Alfa Romeo, Williams, and Haas effectively stopped caring about their performance in 2021 even before the 23-race season began, focusing instead on 2022 and the new rules and regulations set to take effect next year.
Vettel, on the other hand, is the only driver in that group of seven who has yet to score this season. By the end of the second race of the season, all 13 of the others had scored points, and we are now four races into the season. Only Yuki Tsunoda, an AlphaTauri rookie, hasn’t scored in numerous events.
Vettel’s best results are his 13th place finishes in Portimao and Barcelona, despite the fact that all 13 drivers had finished in the top nine at least once. At Bahrain, he finished 15th, while in Imola, he ended 15th after retiring the vehicle late in the race.
So he’s still tied for zero points in the driver standings with the Alfa Romeo duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi, the Williams duo of George Russell and Nicholas Latifi, and the Haas duo of rookies Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin for the third race in a row.
