Valtteri Bottas appears to be on his way out of Mercedes at the end of the year, while seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton hopes he’s not racing when he’s 40, according to our weekly Formula 1 gossip column.

Valtteri Bottas’ time with Mercedes appears to be coming to an end at the end of 2021, according to Sky Sport F1 in Italy.

Since joining Mercedes in 2017, the Finn has had his worst start to a season and is expected to be replaced by George Russell.

When Lewis Hamilton is 40, he expects to still be competing in Formula One. 

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner says the team is “always” looking for a driver from the United States.

Hamilton, according to Formula One great Gerhard Berger, finds it easier to race Max Verstappen than former Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg. 

Kevin Magnussen has stated that he would return to Formula One only if Mercedes or Red Bull gave him a seat.

He said: “If I had a Mercedes or a Red Bull I wouldn’t say no. I don’t think many racing drivers would, but that’s not going to happen. As I said before, I’m very, very happy with the opportunity that I had in Formula 1. Not many people get to have that many years in Formula 1.”

Daniel Ricciardo has offered a message of encouragement to a fan who has been bullied.

Bullies took his McLaren cap and stomped on it, leaving the boy with marks on his face, according to a message posted on Twitter by the child’s dad.

W Series star Jamie Chadwick says there’s no better time to be a woman in motorsport.

She said: “But at the same time, I feel like now is the best time. There is no better time to be a woman in motorsport; most of the community want to see women succeed. If you want to get involved, there’s nothing stopping you.”
