Before the Official Sepang Test, the Italian rookie is delighted with his first three days of 2022 testing.
Marco Bezzecchi of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team is happy with how his three-day MotoGPTM Sepang Shakedown Test went as the Italian, along with his fellow rookies and Test Riders, began track action for the 2022 season.
Bezzecchi, a 24-time Grand Prix podium finisher, finished second to Raul Fernandez in the Shakedown (Tech3 KTM Factory Racing). The VR46 Academy rider finished with a time of 1:59.711 to cap off a fantastic three days in the saddle on a Ducati, as Bezzecchi improved each day and grew more comfortable on his new bike.
“Today was a good day, better than yesterday as I improved a little bit. I’m happy with the test as we improved every day a little and I gained some confidence with the bike. The team did an incredible job again. Then we’ll see over the weekend what we can do,” said Bezzecchi.
“Physically I’m not too bad. I haven’t’ tried a very long run, so having not done many laps I feel good. Maybe over the weekend we’ll do some longer runs. But, right now, I can’t complain.
“Today I followed Aleix (Espargaro) and I followed him for one or two laps. He was faster than me so it was difficult to follow him. It’ll be easier to find people on the track on Saturday and Sunday but I’m not looking for anyone in particular.”
On the 5th and 6th of February, Bezzecchi will be joined on the track by his fellow full-time MotoGPTM racers, including teammate and close friend Luca Marini.
