Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training complex for his first practice with his new teammates since his return to the club was announced last week.

Ronaldo, 36, who left the Premier League giants in a then-world-record trade to Real Madrid 12 years ago, completed a spectacular return to his former club from Juventus last week in one of the most surprising moves of 2021.

Ronaldo, who will wear the No. 7 shirt he wore so well during his first stint at the club from 2003 to 2009, will hope to have done enough to persuade United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he is ready to start Saturday’s league game against Newcastle United.

A full house is expected at Old Trafford to welcome back a player fans continued to hold dear to their hearts despite his move to Madrid 12 years ago.

Ronaldo won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and the 2008 Champions League during his first six years at the club.

During his first spell at the club, he scored 118 goals, the last of which came on May 10, 2009, when he scored a free kick in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

If Ronaldo isn’t fit enough to play this weekend, he might make his Champions League debut the following week when United travels to Young Boys.
