It has been revealed that Kevin Magnussen will race with his father Jan in the 2023 Daytona 24 Hours.

The father and son will participate in the endurance race in a Porsche 911 GT3 R with the MDK Motorsports squad.

Although this will be Magnussen’s third participation in the race—the Dane previously took part in the IMSA series in 2021 after leaving Formula One—it will be the first time he has raced alongside Jan.

Magnussen Jnr will only compete in one IMSA event because he will be competing with Haas in Formula One for the remainder of the season, while Magnussen Snr has committed to driving for MDK Motorsports on a long-term basis.

Magnussen is “very excited” about the chance

In addition to competing in the Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi over the weekend of 10–11 December, the Magnussens had earlier competed together at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021.

Kevin has expressed his enthusiasm about competing in the Daytona 24 Hours alongside his father and thanked Porsche team owner Mark Kvamme for the chance.

“I’m super excited about this!” the Dane said.

“The Rolex 24 is legendary, and I have had some fantastic moments there with Chip Ganassi Racing the past two years.

“Being able to do such a race together with my dad is amazing. Again, I cannot thank Mark Kvamme enough for setting this up.”
