Lewis Hamilton’s brother Nicolas was the first disabled individual who spent a day inside Mercedes’ F1 simulator, fulfilling a personal dream. It’s not often that one gets to sit behind the wheel of an F1 simulator.
Lewis Hamilton has complimented Mercedes for fulfilling his brother Nicolas’ wish to enjoy a day in the squad’s F1 simulator. This helped Lewis realize how important Mercedes is to his family.
Nicolas is a racecar driver who participates in the British Touring Car Championship, much like his older half-brother. The 30-year-old, who races a specially customized car, has cerebral palsy.
The young Hamilton has recently added a new accomplishment to his résumé after becoming the first disabled person to drive a Mercedes sim car.
His delighted older brother proudly posted pictures of the event to social media and described how it had come about, adding that the family had first enquired of the team about the potential earlier in the year.
Hamilton appreciates the “special” chance from Mercedes
Hamilton mentioned in an Instagram post that “time in the sim is incredibly rare and not something that is accessible for someone like my brother.”
“It took custom modifications to the seat, steering wheel and pedals to make this possible. He spent the whole day in it, and is the first disabled person to ever do so.
“He’s always been a fighter and seeing him have this day is an honour. The smile you see here never left his face.
“Can’t wait to share more of this special day, thank you @mercedesamgf1 for the time and work put in to make this possible and make my brother’s dream come true.”
