After a challenging race at Talladega the previous weekend, Joey Logano bounced back by earning the pole position for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Roval.

Logano secured his 3rd pole of the 2022 season and 25th of his career with the best lap of the day, averaging 103.424 mph in the last round.
“The lap was OK. I felt like I screwed up the final chicane here. I screwed up the first run and I screwed up half as bad the second time trying to adjust without over-adjusting,” Logano said.
“My car has some speed in it obviously. It was really good through the rest of the race track. Starting up front is nice. Hopefully we can do what we need to do this weekend. Our job is to get to the next round (of the playoffs).
“This is a great start. We’ll try to keep our track position. It’s pretty sketchy when you lose track position here.”

Logano, who finished 27th at Talladega the previous weekend, will start sixth in Sunday’s final playoff race, 18 points above of the transfer cutoff.
In the end, Daniel Suarez finished third, William Byron was second (103.300 mph), and (103.103 mph).
Austin Cindric and Tyler Reddick completed the top five.
Ryan Blaney, A.J. Allmendinger, Christopher Bell, last weekend’s defending champion Chase Elliott, and Ross Chastain round out the top ten.

On his attempt to be qualified for the last round, Chastain went off the track near Turn 5 and crashed into the tyre barrier. Depending on the degree of the repairs required for his No. 1 Chevrolet, he might have to begin the race on Sunday from the back of the pack.
The frontstretch chicane was missed by Allmendinger, who was quickest during practise on Saturday, resulting in the elimination of his run.
