After being forced to withdraw from Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc’s title hopes have taken a beating.

Due to title challenger Max Verstappen’s excursion through the gravel, Leclerc maintained his pole position lead at the beginning of the race and went on to create a dominant lead.

However, during the first round of pit stops, Leclerc claimed a lack of power on Lap 27 of 66, causing him to quit due to an undisclosed engine issue.

“No, no, no! What happened?” Leclerc shouted over the radio, as he crawled back to the pits.

What’s the status of the Spanish Grand Prix?

Sergio Perez of Red Bull took up a lead of the race immediately, having switched from Soft to Medium tyres at the same time as Leclerc.

Behind him, Mercedes racer George Russell has been putting up a brave fight against Verstappen, who is still having problems with his DRS system.
