On Friday night, two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
During his career, Earnhardt, 47, won 26 Cup Series races and finished third in the series standings. But it’s possible that his most spectacular achievement is being chosen the sport’s most popular driver for a record-breaking 15 consecutive seasons.

Dale Earnhardt Sr., who died in a car accident during the 2001 Daytona 500, was a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 2010. In his induction speech, Earnhardt Jr. noted that joining his father in the Hall of Fame “is probably as good as it’s ever going to get.”
In 2017, Earnhardt declared that he would retire from full-time racing. After missing much of the 2016 season with concussion-like symptoms, he made the decision.
Earnhardt has sporadically competed in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series, despite not racing in the Cup Series since the end of the 2017 season. He recently finished 14th at Richmond Raceway in the 2021 Go Bowling 250.
