Jason Anderson has suffered a hand injury that will keep him out of competitive action for the most of the outdoor season, beginning with his withdrawal from this weekend’s Thunder Valley National (Lakewood).
Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing suffered a broken hand in a practice incident in his home state of New Mexico on Thursday.
Anderson is expected to miss six to eight weeks of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in 2021, starting with the Thunder Valley MX National in Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday.
Team Manager Stephen Westfall said: “It’s very unfortunate that Jason had a crash while practicing today, resulting in a broken right hand. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back to the races ASAP.”
Anderson’s injured hand could keep him out of Pro Motocross until the Unadilla National (round eight), the first race following the summer break. The Washougal National on July 24 may be too soon for the 28-year-old to make his comeback.
Jason Anderson said: “Bummed to say that I will not be making it this weekend. Started my first moto this morning [Thursday] at practice and off of a jump my chain snapped… something completely out of my control.
“I broke my hand and knocked some teeth out. I gotta get it all handled on Monday (recovery timeline) and I will be back racing these outdoors at the end of the season.
“Sorry to my team and all the supporters but damn 2021 been a rough year for me… let’s end this sh*t on a good note though!”
Anderson made a strong start to his 2021 Pro Motocross season last weekend at Fox Raceway, finishing sixth overall after starting 10th and then fourth in the motos.
