Camavinga, who has three caps for France, has signed a six-year contract with the Santiago Bernabeu.

MADRID – Real Madrid has signed Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga minutes before the European transfer deadline on Tuesday, according to the two clubs.

While Real has been attempting to sign Paris Saint-Kylian Germain’s Mbappe, another promising French talent is on his way to Madrid.

Camavinga, who has three caps for France, has signed a six-year contract with the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Real Madrid C.F. and Stade Rennais F.C. have reached an agreement over the transfer of Eduardo Camavinga, who joins the club on a six-year deal, until 30 June 2027,” said a statement on the Madrid website.

Real have agreed to pay 31 million euros ($36.6 million) plus nine million euros in add-ons for a player who was in the final year of his contract in Brittany, according to media reports.

Camavinga, an Angolan, joined the Rennes academy in 2011 and turned professional at the age of 16.

He got his France debut as a substitute in a 4–2 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League last September, at the age of 17, becoming the youngest player in the national team since Maurice Gastiger in 1914.

He made his first start for the national team a month later, scoring his first goal in a 7-1 victory over Ukraine.
