Ducati confirmed on Tuesday that Australian rider Jack Miller has extended his contract with the Italian team for the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.

Miller, 26, came from the Pramac team, a Ducati satellite, to join the official Ducati team this season. He had signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year in 2022, which he has already taken.

After a tricky start to the season, Miller returned to win the final two races in Spain and France, leaving him in fourth place with 64 points, 16 behind leader Fabio Quartararo.

“I am thrilled to be able to continue my adventure with the Ducati Lenovo Team also next season,” said Miller in a statement.

“Wearing these colours is a great honour for me, and having been able to win the last two races on the Desmosedici GP is a real dream.”

On Sunday, the season’s sixth round takes place at the Mugello circuit in Italy.
