Scott Redding will race alongside Michael Van Der Mark for BMW in the 2022 WorldSBK season.
Scott Redding will switch from Ducati to BMW Motorrad WorldSBK for the 2022 WorldSBK season, according to BMW Motorrad WorldSBK.
Redding won his third WorldSBK race of the season at Most, prompting the announcement.
Redding has spent the last two WorldSBK seasons with Ducati, as well as riding in the BSB series for the Italian manufacturer (2019).
“We are pleased to welcome Scott to our WorldSBK family,” stated Marc Bongers, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director. He has proven to make an excellent transition from GP to BSB to WorldSBK in recent years, establishing himself as one of the best riders in the field.
“We are therefore convinced that Scott, with his fighting spirit and absolute will to win, is the perfect new addition for the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and another reinforcement for our entire WorldSBK project.
“A warm welcome to Scott, we are looking forward to a strong collaboration.”
Redding will race alongside Michael Van Der Mark of the Dutch, while BMW is still in talks with Tom Sykes about a contract extension, which means three factory BMWs might be on the grid next season.
BMW’s signing of Redding is the team’s biggest coup since returning to WorldSBK, and Team Principal Shaun Muir is delighted.
“We have been following Scott’s career for a number of years and are delighted that he will now become a part of our team,” added Muir.
“His successes speak for themselves and it is great that he will bring his skills and his experience to the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team in the future.
“With getting him on board, BMW Motorrad Motorsport once more underlines the huge importance of the WorldSBK project and the aim of establishing themselves at the very top.”
